In the spring semester of 2022, Unexpected Resolution recorded three songs, one of which was a cover of Dua Lipa’s “Break My Heart.” I went through multiple iterations of the album artwork, mostly focused on coloration, but eventually settled on two options.
The green one arguably has better contrast and fits our previously established brand better. However, black, white, and green is a very difficult color scheme to work with and make look nice. I knew that if we didn\’t break away from that branding soon, we would be stuck in it for a long time. So, we ultimately went with the more colorful artwork. I wanted to give future generations of Unexpected Resolution the freedom to do whatever feels or looks best when creating album artwork. These designs were made in Blender and turned into the Spotify Canvas for the song.
Creating the artwork was a multi-step process. First, I would render a high resolution image in Blender. Second, I would print out that image. Third, I would scan that image back into my computer. Fourth, I would process it in Photoshop.
